       2012 Northeast Asian Women's Peace Conference                               March 14, 2012

Recommendations: To the Six-Party Talks and countries to attend

the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit

Women's at the 2012 Northeast Asian Peace Conference express their deep condolences to victims of the Fukushima Daichi nuclear disaster in March 2011. We believe nuclear weapons and power reactors are a matter of life or death. We support a nuclear-free peaceful world.

In order to achieve peaceful coexistence of all living things and sustainable society, we recommend to the countries to participate in the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit including Six Party Talks countries:

1. We call on the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit to address not only the nuclear materials but also the elimination of nuclear weapons.

2. Recognize the risks demonstrated by the Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear disasters, and take various measures to reduce reliance on nuclear power such as phasing out nuclear power plants, enhancing transparency and safety management of existing nuclear power plants, finding solutions for nuclear waste storage, restricting the export of nuclear power reactors, and accelerating the development of renewable energy.

3. Implement UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. We urge countries which do not have a National Action Plan(NAP) to adopt one immediately. We applaud countries that have a NAP, and encourage them to implement it as soon as possible.

4. Resume Six Party Talks as soon as possible and pursue denuclearization and a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, normalize the US-DPRK and Japan-DPRK relations. Move from the Armistice Agreement to a peace Agreement for the Korean Peninsula.

We women, in solidarity with women around the world, call for new forms of cooperation with governments in order to realize a nuclear-free world in the near future.
